How I Work
My Life Coaching and Counselling Style
I offer a supportive and confidential environment in my Kelowna office, which is comfortable, professional and inviting.
Whether we are working in person, via Skype or on the telephone, you will likely find my presence comforting and reassuring.
I make every effort to help you feel safe to discuss your concerns with me. My clients tell me that I am caring, kind, and quickly able to assess their needs. They also report that I explain things in an easy to understand manner that makes sense to them.
I’ll work with you within a cooperative, respectful, and common sense framework. While I am the expert at counseling, you are the expert on your life and how you want to live it.
I will do what is necessary to make sure you get what you need in our sessions. My clients and colleagues have told me that I often go the “extra distance” in my work.
The Coaching / Counselling Process
When we begin our counselling or coaching sessions, we’ll discuss the problem(s) that are of concern to you and how they impact your life.
Once we both have a clear understanding of these issues, we’ll then set goals for our work together, and discuss the path to achieving these goals.
I see my clients as unique individuals with unique problems even when they may appear similar to others. Therefore, I’ll work with you to ensure that all goals are customized to best meet your needs.
As our sessions progress, we will review the counselling process and goals as necessary to make sure you get the best service and the best results possible.
If requested, I will help with referrals or in providing input or coordination with other professionals you are working with, in addition to me. I will also provide resources, guidance and reports to appropriate persons and organizations upon your request.
Counseling and Life Coaching:
I offer both counselling and coaching services depending upon your needs and goals.
Counselling is provided for those who may have problems that have persisted for a long time such as anxiety, depression or PTSD.
Life Coaching is suitable for those looking for stress management coaching, creating better health and wellness, wanting more from their lives, or those who want to improve their work, life or business performance or athletic performance.
Services are Offered Via:
- In person sessions: in my Kelowna counselling office
- Phone or Skype: if you are unable to come into the office, are traveling, or prefer to work with me from the comfort of your home or office
- Hospital visits: available upon request in Kelowna

On Being a Life Coach and Counsellor
I love my work!
Counselling and coaching is a way for me to exercise my core life values and principles: Integrity, personal improvement, learning, offering a helping hand, professionalism, striving for results and excellence.
My enthusiasm for my work can be infectious to my clients, especially when life is tough. Sometimes it can be amazingly helpful just knowing that someone has faith in you and in your ability to create a better, more satisfying life.
Why I Stand Out As a Counsellor and Coach
I deliver – I am result oriented. You will receive high quality solutions in a caring, supportive and comfortable environment.
My clients often achieve long-term results due to my desire to give them the best service possible.
My clients enjoy my sense of humour. I am skilled at helping people feel more comfortable with themselves, and thus more comfortable with their place in the world.
I have a strong track record as a therapist and coach. This is evidenced by my excellent reputation in Vancouver and Kelowna. Due to the results I receive with my clients, I consistently receive referrals from physicians, other health care providers, and of course, my clients.
I bring a wealth of training and experience, which allows me to select the approaches and techniques most likely to be helpful to the uniqueness of each client and the situation they bring.
A common thread that runs through my work life and personal life is that I am curious and enjoy learning. This ensures that I am current on the most up-to-date counselling and coaching approaches, and the science behind them.
I appreciate the way you incorporate the science behind the techniques you teach in your explanations. Knowing that the coherence techniques and their positive benefits are grounded in science makes it considerably easier to buy into the process.Dean Valli (A Coaching Client)
I utilize state-of-the-art counselling and coaching methods that have been proven to be effective. These include the following:
The client-centered approach is the foundation of my work and means that I believe that you, as the client, are the one who decides the course of our work together and what you want to achieve. I then use my knowledge, expertise and skills, as appropriate, to help you achieve the life you want.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is one of the most common and effective types of psychotherapy available. Its focus is on becoming more aware of your thinking patterns and to help you shift your thinking in more beneficial ways.
The field of positive psychology aims to help you strengthen the more positive aspects of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour, instead of focusing exclusively on your problems and what is not working in your life.
The science on the benefits of meditation and mindfulness practices are now well established. Meditation can help you become more relaxed, overcome fears, ease stress, increase focus and creativity, improve memory and become more compassionate.
Biofeedback is a highly useful stress reduction and performance enhancement method that can help you control your body’s functions, such as heart rate.Biofeedback can be used to help change habits and to help ease pain, heal from anxieties, and overcome mental health issues such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Over time, it teaches you how to have better control over your life.
I often use a groundbreaking form of biofeedback called HeartMath, which has been shown to produce a number of benefits including reducing stress, depression and anxiety. HeartMath has also been shown to help with a number of health conditions including hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and those who have experienced congestive heart failure. Furthermore, HeartMath has been shown to be successful in increasing performance in athletes and in employees in the workplace. It can improve focus and concentration and increase productivity.
